What is Radiesse®?
Radiesse® is an injectable dermal filler that temporarily adds volume to help soften moderate to severe facial wrinkles and provides an immediate lifting and firming effect on the skin. Has Radiesse® been tested and certified?
Radiesse® offers you a safe and convenient way to recover the youthful contours of your face. Through years of clinical studies, Radiesse® has proven safe and effective and has shown excellent tolerance. Radiesse® received European approval as a medical device in 2004. In 2006, Radiesse® also received the specific CE mark for plastic and reconstructive surgery. The CE certification is the European Union standard for product safety. Radiesse® was also approved by the FDA in 2006.
What is the treatment procedure?
Your professional will explain the different treatment options available and discuss which one is best for you. With the use of a local anesthetic, Radiesse® is gently injected into the skin, usually in small amounts with a very fine needle. A treatment session usually lasts approximately 30 minutes. The effect will be visible immediately after the injection.
What happens if I take medicine?
Tell your doctor before treatment if you are taking medication, even if it is not a prescription medication. Taking blood thinners and pain relievers, including aspirin and some vitamin supplements, can cause unwanted bruising. Your professional will advise you accordingly.
Is there any side effect?
After the injection, you may experience redness, bruising, swelling or other local side effects. Most of the side effects of the treatment resolve within a few days. Rare side effects may include more persistent swelling, inequality or firmness in the injected area, and as with any injection, there may be a risk of infection. Discuss any concerns you have with your professional.
How long does the effect of Radiesse® last?
The unique formulation of Radiesse® forms new collagen by neocollagenesis, resulting in an increase in volume that can last a year or more in many patients. Individual results depend on age, skin type, lifestyle, metabolism and, of course, the area treated.
Can you combine Radiesse® with other products?
For a holistic treatment of individual folds and selected areas of the face, it may be advisable to combine Radiesse® with other products. Radiesse® can be safely combined with some other dermal fillers, such as hyaluronic acid. You may want to contour your lips or mimic the treatment of wrinkles to complement your youthful appearance recovered.
